Since mine and Chris’ relationship originated from our shared love of music, one of our goals this year was to get our guitars back and out play more often with Ali. And so, we had a good old fashioned family singalong a couple of nights ago.

Although this video is a little longer than I normally publish, I’m sure you’ll find it useful. In this Vlog (“Video Blog”, for those of you who think I just typoed the word “blog”), you will learn valuable musical skills, such as:

  • How useful feet can be when playing the guitar.

  • It’s hard to clap when you are strumming the guitar.
  • Or holding the camera.
  • “If you’re happy and you know it, say Axiomatically Bombastic!!” IS a legitimate verse to “Happy and You Know it”. At least it is to a two year old.

(If you’re wondering how that phrase made it into her vocab, you can
    read about it here)

  • There’s nothing wrong with swapping the roles of the hands right in the middle of a song.
  • You must be very careful not to stifle your own music.

Obviously, with the originality and caliber of our song choice and the sheer talent of Ali’s guitar playing, we’ll be traveling with The Taubls in no time.

How cute! What a talented family!

(How is it that I didn't know you played guitar?)

Ali has grown since the last time I saw her! I like whatever it is that you did with her picture at the top, also.

Did I imagine it, or did Ali say "Crap your hands," at the 2:12 mark? LOL.

That was too cute! I love how she so carefully put the pick down on her legs to clap. :)

I'm impressed with you and your husbands musical abilities!!!

When Ali is all grown up and a famous singer, they'll pull this video to show where her long and successful music career all began!! Haha!!

And good job, mommy and daddy!

I see tears in Simon Cowell's eyes!

I have to tell you, I just spent the last 30 minutes NOT cleaning my bathrooms, but looking at walmart people.com thanks to your comment on my aunt Mama Hen's blog!! I have laughed my rear off! Although some of them were just plain scary…

I think this is a good time to post the pic of Chris holding Ali in the Baby Bjorn thing AND his guitar! The one from your old house when she was itty bitty! It started much earlier ;)

I started playing the video and both of my kids run over and watch it for the entire 3 minutes and 15 seconds and want to watch again. Why is it that kids are fascinated with other kids?

Dude. She's a natural. She really does take direction really well.

What a blessing it is for her to have such talented parents!

So cool! I play the piano with my kids, but my hubby won't let them touch his guitars.. I had to beg him for a staged shot (post coming soon I hope…). Loved your family band video.

You guys are one talented family! I think I saw Ali trying to play the guitar with her feet, if she can really learn how to do that you guys could go out on tour!
